A couple of months ago, I explored the "Traditional Marriage Support Center" in Metaplace, which provides information about the Biblical basis for marriage as being between one man and one woman. While I was exploring this space, I found out about the "MetaEquality Center," which has, as you can imagine, an alternative view of marriage and relationships.
I got a few minutes today to checkout the MetaEquality Center, and found it to be quite a compelling use of virtual space for information dissemination, civic action and emotional support.

When you arrive at the MetaEquality Center, a nearby information booth gives you the basic goal of the space: "a place for people of all sexual orientations, gender, and beliefs to come together for a safe haven for communication." There's a library, a meeting space, a wedding area, and a cemetery. More that later.
The library has links to several resources about LGBTQ folks, from what the Bible has to say about homosexuality to definitions of transgendered. The wedding area is really lovely, with what looks like two same gender couples getting married.
The most compelling part of the space is the cemetery, a place dedicated to the memories of those who have been murdered because of their gender orientation or sexual preference. As the video shows, you can click on each tombstone to get some basic info about the murder victim. I found it very moving even though its quite simple in layout and presentation.
The MetaEquality Center was created by Metaplace user ChooseaReality. Nicely done.
