Did you attend or participate in any virtual or web-based September 11 commemorations yesterday? How was it? Did it help you process the feelings you were experiencing? Connect with others? Learn something new?
I checked in briefly on the Blue Angels and Stagg virtual commemorations in Second Life, before heading out for some real world activities. The Stagg September 11 Memorial seemed to have a good crowd of 30-some avatars sharing their feelings and experiences, leaving notes and candles by the memorial. I missed the Blue Angels commemoration, but the sim looked really lovely, as were the avatars there when I rezzed in.
Some others who went to the "virtual stairclimb" to honor first responders told me that it was a very moving experience. Here's a video of one avatar's experience.
